Off to Mexico

Our ship has nearly arrived. There it is in fact, The Vision of the Seas. We're off to Long Beach, CA later today and depart tomorrow for the Mexican Riviera (Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta) for a week. We hope to come back with lots of cheaply made items to impress our family and friends with as holiday gifts. And we also hope to have lots of good experiences and stories to tell. None of which will involve a Mexican jail.

Bon Voyage,

Bon Voyage!

If you do somehow end up in a Mexican jail, give me a call. I've never busted anyone out of a Mexican jail before, and it sounds like great fun.

um.......it may be too late, but you do realize that Mexico is sunny? And they have beaches and stuff?

We're back! None the worse for wear. No Mexican jails. No knife fights in downtown Mazatlan. Lots of great memories though.

You're right, groovelily, Mexico is very sunny. The beauty of cruising is that you can put together an agenda when you're in the ports to your liking. Personally, bowlingwidow and I think that laying on a beach is not a fun or interesting way to spend a vacation. We ain't beach people. But I also recognize that a lot of people are after that sort of a thing. There's a lot of "at sea" time on the cruise, too, so there's lots of time to swim, hang out on the deck and read, as well as nightly entertainment (well...that's actually a sporty way to describe the shows).

Instead we took a cooking class in Cabo and made some delicious salsa and sea bass. In Mazatlan we hung out in old town and immersed ourselves in the middle of the town marketplace. Butchers, cheese vendors, taco vendors, shoe and leather stores.....all sorts of businesses exist under one roof. Incredible scene. In Puerto Vallarta we toured the city and a tequila factory on a hacienda. And yes we did in fact bring home 1,500 ml of the finest 100% blue agave tequila in the state of Jalisco.

Stay tuned for a 4-part (or so) blog.
